I work in tech by day, and I also run Thi Harper Calligraphy, a hand-lettering studio for weddings and keepsakes. With 10+ years in software, building my own site was the easy part. FAQ
The questions everyone asks first
I already have a Squarespace or Wix site — why switch?
If it's working for you, there's no rush. But if you're tired of the $30–$70/mo bill for pages that rarely change, or you're fighting the editor more than running your business, this is worth a look. I can point your existing domain straight to the new site, and reuse your existing copy and photos as a starting point — the domain and content carry over, even though the site itself gets built fresh rather than copied. Want to keep editing it yourself instead? Ask about the Squarespace build above.
What if I need changes later?
Here's the tradeoff: you can't log in and edit a static site yourself the way you could with Squarespace — that's part of why hosting stays this affordable. The $10/mo plan covers hosting and security only. The $30/mo plan adds up to 5 copy/image updates a month (a photo swap, a price change, a sentence tweak), so small stuff never needs its own quote. Bigger requests, like a new page or a full redesign, get their own quick quote.
Why is this so much more affordable than an agency?
No account managers, no bloated CMS, no monthly software licensing eating into your budget. You're paying for direct, hands-on engineering — not agency overhead.
Do I own the site?
Yes. The domain is yours, the code is yours. The monthly plan covers hosting and support, not a license to your own site.
Can you match my existing branding?
Send your logo, colors, and any brand guide you have — the build is fitted to your business, not a template with your name swapped in.
How fast is turnaround, really?
7–10 business days once I have your content in hand — text, photos, and logo. The clock starts the day I start building, not while I'm still waiting on what I need from you. Don't have photos or a logo yet? I can point you to quick, affordable options so we're not stuck waiting.
Can I cancel hosting or the retainer?
Yes — it's month-to-month, no long-term contract. Give me 14 days' notice so we can wrap up cleanly; since you own the code, you're always free to move it to another host.
Is this the right fit?
